E-mu Systems Announces Debut of the Audity 2000

E-mu's new rhythmic synth explodes into the next millennium

January 29, 1998 -- E-mu Systems announces the debut of the Audity 2000 at Winter NAMM in Los Angeles. The Audity 2000 is E-mu's newest rhythmic/synth module tailored toward modern dance and synth music creators/performers. The Audity 2000 features a 16 channel arpeggiator /rhythmic pattern generator, Digital Rhythmic Modular Synthesis (DRMS), 12th order resonant digital modeling filters, multiple modulation destinations (which can all be synchronized), and 640 entirely new presets. By utilizing complete implementation of rhythmic control parameters and analog-like synthesis to shape a large pallet of cutting-edge waveforms, the Audity 2000 is positioned to be the definitive modern rack-mount synthesizer well into the next century. The Audity 2000 is expected to ship this spring and retail for under $2000.

Rhythmic Synthesis

Digital Rhythmic Modular Synthesis (DRMS) is at the core of the Audity 2000. This powerful new synthesis architecture allows each preset to have up to 8 LFOs and 12 envelopes, all perfectly synched via internal or external MIDI clock, controlling the filter, pitch, pan, volume, and more. Audity's arpeggiator/ rhythmic pattern generator allows you to play up to 16 entirely different, yet fully synchronized, arpeggiator patterns simultaneously which then can be edited easily using "pattern flow" commands.

All DRMS, arpeggiator/ rhythm pattern generators, and performance parameters are saved with the preset for instant access during live performance. Since the rhythmic pattern generator also supports external MIDI devices, Audity 2000 is a perfect companion product for E-mu's venerable Orbit(TM)V2, Planet Phatt(TM), and Carnaval(TM) sound modules, all of which will remain in the product line.

"The Audity 2000 combines unprecedented synthesis technology with exhaustive rhythmic performance capabilities to create a new benchmark for the modern synthesizer," notes Sean Wilhelmsen, product manager at E-mu. "The Audity 2000 is a great creative partner and the perfect complement to our other sound modules."

Sounds

Audity 2000's 16MB ROM sound set features a large assortment of traditional analog waveforms, as well as a slew of modern industrial sounds and new hybrid creations. Using combinations of various types of waveforms, Audity's sounds are truly unique. Once waveforms are blended, sounds can be manipulated by Audity's arsenal of 12th-order filters, 24-bit dual stereo effects processors, and modular "'patch cord" architecture. Four real-time knobs provide users immediate access to eight key parameters per preset. These knobs can also be used to edit or modulate the preset making editing fast and easy.
