January 29, 1998 -- Without a doubt, bassist Marcus Miller's defining, deep-in-the-pocket groove is being fel around the world by musicians who consider his work to be the pinnacle of the craft. Fender introduces the Limited Edition Marcus Miller Jazz Bass®, replicated from the personal modified instrument of the bass player who's been called the "Superman of Soul." The Limited Edition Marcus Miller Jazz Bass has an ash body with a '75 Jazz Bass maple neck with a 34" scale length; BadAss(TM) II bridge; a maple fretboard with 20 frets, white binding and pearloid inlays; vintage style machine heads; vintage Jazz Bass pickups; black/white/black pickguard; volume, volume, treble, and bass controls; 2-Band active EQ with bypass switch; and chrome plated nickel hardware. Comes factory-equipped with genuine Fender strings for optimum tone and performance. As a bassist, Marcus Miller's performed with Miles Davis, David Sanborn, Luther Vandross, Joe Sample, McCoy Tyner & Jackie McLean, Grover Washington Jr., Aretha Franklin, and Roberta Flack. As a producer, he's worked on albums for such renowned performers as Davis, Sanborn, Vandross, Al Jarreau, and The Crusaders. As a composer, Miller's written soundtracks for several films. Among them, "Low Down Dirty Shame" with Keenan Ivory Wayans and "Boomerang" with Eddie Murphy. "Da Butt," a song he penned and produced for Spike Lee's School Days, started a nationwide dance craze and was responsible for putting the "go-go" dance mix on the map.
