January 29, 1998 -- Fender announces the Will Ray Signature Mojo Tele®, a true reflection of the cult guitar hero and Tele master's individuality and uncompromising pursuit of tone.

The Will Ray Signature Mojo Tele features an ash body with 23 karat gold foil leaf applique; a maple neck with 25.5" scale length, a Strat® peghead and voodoo skulls pearl inlay; a rosewood fretboard with 22 Dunlop 6150 frets; 1.680" at the nut; Custom Shop Jazzmaster® pickups; Sperzel® Trimlock(TM) Machine Heads; volume, tone select and tone controls; Custom Tele bridge with compensating saddles; and 3-way selector switch. Optional feature: a Hipshot(TM) string bending device. Encased in a black Tolex® case with black plush lining. Comes factory-equipped with genuine Fender strings for optimum tone and performance.

Ray has carved a solid niche with his extraordinary playing style. His ingenious use of the HIPSHOT® String Bending device along with ring slides on both hands can be heard on countless recordings as well as his two instructional videos, "B-Bender Mania" and "Stealth Slide Technique."
