Pearl Introduces Sensitone Power Piccolos

January 29, 1998 -- Power and piccolo together are an oxymoron. But not when describing Pearl's two new SensiTone Power Piccolo snare drums: the S-5513 (steel shell) and B-5513 (brass shell). Measuring 5 1/2" x 13", the S-5513 and B-5513 feature tight, piercing sound, characteristic of piccolo snare drums, but with considerably more power, projection, and dynamic range thanks to its extra depth. Additionally, the extra depth allows lower tuning than standard piccolos for wider tuning range and greater versatility.

In the SensiTone tradition, both models feature rigid beaded shells for increased projection and clarity. Low mass bridge-style lugs feature small contact area for open tone and outstanding resonance. The lugs feature solid brass receivers that resist tension rod slippage thus helping drums stay in tune longer.

The S-5513 and B-5513 feature thick SuperHoop II steel rims for precise tuning, solid rimshots, and fat cross-stick sound. Featuring an engraved "Pearl SuperHoop" logo, the SuperHoop II's add beauty and class to these already exquisite snare drums.

Both Power Piccolos feature the SR-017 "vertical pull" strainer. The SR-017 pulls the snares parallel to the shell, not away like some systems, for ideal snare to head contact with minimal tension. The result is superb snare response from edge to center at all dynamic levels without choking.

The SensiTone Power Piccolos are available in steel and brass to suit your preference: for smooth frequency response choose steel, for more "sizzle" choose brass.
