Sonic Foundry Debuts New XFX 2 DirectX Audio Plug-in Pack

January 29, 1998 -- In conjunction with the '98 NAMM International Music Market, Sonic Foundry, Inc. announces the release of XFX 2, the second in a series of audio plug-ins. All plug-ins in the XFX line run on any program that fully supports DirectX Audio Plug-ins, including Sonic Foundry's award-winning Sound Forge 4.0.

The XFX 2 CD-ROM (MSRP $249) includes native versions for Windows NT-compatible systems (x86, Pentium and Alpha), and Windows 95. The plug-in features real-time previewing of all effects for instant feedback and optimized editing sessions.

XFX 2 includes the following six plug-ins:

Noise Gate - Eliminates low-level background noise from silent breaks. Controls attack and release time to improve performance between staccato drums and legato music. Solid gating threshold between -infinity and 0dB.

Graphic Dynamics - Offers graphical compression, limiting and expansion. Allows for superior control over threshold and ratio. Precisely tailors the signal at all levels between Infinity and 0dB. Provides automatic gain compensation for audio level loss using high compression.

Mufti-Band Dynamics - Can run up to four bands simultaneously with an option to bypass each one independently. Visual metering shows amount of compression, input and output signals.

Paragraphic EQ - Controls frequency, gain and bandwidth for up to four independent bands. Features variable low-shelf and high-shelf filters and a graphical interface to represent filter parameters. Extensive presets included.

Parametric EQ - Includes three levels of accuracy for running real time on different levels of machines. Four filters available: Band Notch, Band Pass, low-shelf and high-shelf. Updated user interface gives easy advanced feature control.

Graphic EQ - Includes two new features: band page for finer band tuning and graphic envelope page for total control over any filter design. Also offers master gain control.
