Yamaha Introduces Maple Custom Absolute Drumset

January 29, 1998 -- After enjoying success with their Maple Custom Drum Series, Yamaha Corporation of America announces the addition of the latest member to the family-the Maple Custom Absolute Drums. After carefully listening to consumer-generated suggestions, Yamaha has answered drummers with a thinner shell at an attractive price.

Boasting the same craftsmanship and quality that goes into all Yamaha drums, the Maple Custom Absolute offers several key features that fill the requests of drummers all over the world. The 100-percent all maple shell has been redesigned with a thinner construction. Like previous Maple Custom kits, the Absolute series shells feature the Air-Seal System(, ensuring a seamless construction and more impressive durability.

The Maple Custom Absolute Series is equipped with the Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System (YESS) mount on all toms, which increases the resonance of the drum while providing a wide dynamic range and long sustain. This technology "floats" the support arm off of the drum shell, allowing it to vibrate freely and generate a warm sound with outstanding projection. The kit also offer 2.3mm triple-flanged steel hoops and small chrome lug casings. All drums in the kit feature precision-machined lug casings that are fixed to the drum shell with only a single bolt, also allowing for unobstructed vibration of the drum.

The Maple Custom Absolute Drums will be available in five lacquer finishes and will deliver in February, 1998. Suggested retail price is TBA.
