dbx Shows Upgraded Project 1 266XL Dual Compressor/Gate

January 29, 1998 -- dbx Professional Products recently upgraded the features of its popular 266A Dual Channel Compressor-limiter/Gate.

Known as the 266XL, the unit now boasts dual balanced XLR in and out connectors as well as 1/4-inch TRS balanced connectors. For improved viewing at a glance, the new version also upgrades its switches for OverEasy®, Bypass and Stereo Couple with new light pipe switches similar to those used on the company's higher end 10 Series Product.

The Compressor-limiter/Gate further features dbx's true Auto mode (replacing its pre-existing Auto Dynamic(TM) mode), enabling the 266XL to intuitively set its own attack and release controls depending on the input signal.

Like its predecessor, the 266XL still continues to provide two channels of classic dbx compression, and features such amenities as program-adaptive expander gates, OverEasy®/Hard-knee and +4dBu/-10dBv switches, precision LED metering, sidechain insert and internal power supply. Stereo or dual-mono operation may be selected via the front panel.

With all improvements, the dbx 266XL still retains its same low U.S. retail price of $249.95.
