Apogee Introeduces New "Solution Series" With The Rosetta AD

January 28, 1999 -- The first product in the Apogee's new line of products for the project studio, dubbed the "Solution Series", will be the Rosetta AD, a cost-effective, high-quality, 2-channel analog to digital converter available in 44.1/48 and 44.1-96kHz sampling versions.

The result of extensive research into the feature set most appropriate for project studio applications, the Rosetta AD is a distinctive 1U rack-mount unit in silver-gray with Apogee's trademark purple accents. Offering both professional and consumer analog input levels, balanced or unbalanced, and two AES/EBU outputs along with ADAT, TDIF and S/PDlF interfaces, the Rosetta AD meets virtually every need as the front end for a computer-based DAW, a DAT or MDM machine, or the output of an analog console. The unit is exceptionally easy to use: clear bar-graph meters and large "over" LEDs indicate levels, while each function has its own button and LED indicators.

Also included in this affordably-priced unit are Apogee's proprietary processes Soft Limit® (used to reduce overs and maximize digital level) and UV22HR, the newly-introduced "high resolution" version of UV22, Apogee's industry-standard technology for reducing the word-length of high resolution digital signals from 24-bits to 16 or 20 without perceptible quality loss.

"We believe we have been successful in delivering true Apogee quality, without compromise, to a market that has probably never used external converters before," said Rice. "We've made it as simple as possible to achieve a significant improvement in audio performance at an affordable price," he concluded.

The Rosetta AD is now shipping. List prices: 44.1/48 version, $1295; 44.1-96 version: $1995
