Arboretum Announces BeOS Development EffortJanuary 28, 1999 -- Arboretum Systems today announced support for the BeOS and the porting of their Hyperprism and Ray Gun audio software to the BeOS. The Hyperprism signal processing and sound design package and the Ray Gun noise reduction tool are the latest additions to the comprehensive audio toolset being assembled for BeOS. Announcements from other firms prior to and at NAMM indicate that Arboretum joins a wave of prominent audio software developers now migrating to BeOS. "I am very excited by the BeOS," said Arboretum founder and CEO Georges Jaroslaw. "I have been longing for an operating system which is more audio and video oriented. There is a huge potential to benefit users and I see the BeOS as a major milestone in the history of the digital media industry." BeOS features such as symmetric multiprocessing and pervasive multithreading hold special appeal for Arboretum's engineering team. "After spending several years working around the real-time limitations of general purpose operating systems, it is such a relief to work with the BeOS," said Chris Weare, Arboretum's Chief Technical Officer. "It's built from the ground up with real-time performance in mind. BeOS is opening many technological possibilities for the development team at Arboretum Systems. Possibilities that will result in novel and exciting features in our products to come." For more information, visit Arboretum at www.arboretum.com.
