EMF Acoustics Announces B-Band Core 99 Acoustic Instrument Preamp
January 28, 1999 -- The Core 99 is a new, totally redesigned version of the Core preamp. For the user, it looks and sounds as good as our previous Core models, but has more. First of all, the Core 99 has a unique contour filter for tone enhancing. Inside the preamp, there are separate DIP-switches for switching both low- and high-frequency enhancers on and off. When the switches are in their off positions, frequency response is flat with the low-end rolling off at -6 dB/octave below 70 Hz. The LF enhancer provides a moderate effect, while the effect of the HF enhancer is mild. Both enhancers have been switched ON before shipping but can be turned OFF to get a flat response or to have one enhancer active. Just open the preamp to change the presets. There is also an easy way to reduce preamp gain by 10dB and/or lower the low-end roll-off turnover frequency down to 35 Hz for use in acoustic bass guitars. Significant electrical improvements have also been made to the circuitry to tighten production spread tolerances and enhance electrical parameters, such as the signal-to-noise ratio. As before, a system with an optional condenser mic with a split output is also available. However, the condenser mic model supplied with this system is a completely new, better one. The mic capsule is especially designed for acoustic instruments, with a suitable bass roll-off and treble boost. The mic clamp and gooseneck have also been redesigned, to provide an easier adjustment of the mic position. For more information, visit the EMF Acoustics web site at www.b-band.com.
