EMF Acoustics Introduces New2 Frontier™ Acoustic Preamps

January 28, 1999 -- EMF Acoustics has announced a new acoustic instrument preamp model, the New2 Frontier (pronounced "new squared frontier") provides the same great functions as the basic model, plus some exciting new features: A condenser mic input, mix control for the mic, and a split output. The mic mix control is unique: When placed at its center position, the mic is off. Rotating the control to either direction will increase mic mix level similarly, but one direction has reversed phase with respect to the other. So, the same knob provides both level and phase adjustment!

For those who prefer to cut lows from the mic signal, the mic channel has a high-pass filter adjustable from 70 Hz to 1.5 kHz, with a slope of -6 dB/octave. The factory setting is 70 Hz. A mic gain control trimmer is also provided.

The split output provides separate mix and mic outputs. The direct mic out signal is "tapped" before any controls, giving constant-level output with flat frequency response. Mic direct out is fed to output jack ring contact, while the B-Band/ mix signal is available at the tip.

The New2 Frontier should be available in April.
