E-MU SYSTEMS Announces Ultra Main-Board
Upgrade/Trade-In Program For E4X, E4XT, E-Synth Rack, And e-6400 Owners
Enables Current E4 Owners To Upgrade
To Ultra Specifications
January 28, 1999 -- E-MU SYSTEMS announced the Ultra mainboard upgrade/trade-in program which
enables owners of E4XT, E4X, E-synth Rack, and e-6400's to upgrade their
samplers to the full specifications of the new Ultra line of Emulator®
4 samplers. The upgrade includes 20-bit DACs with 128x over-sampling,
Word Clock I/O, 128-voice polyphony, Emulator Operating System (EOS) 4.0,
dual MIDI In/Out/Thru, additional expansion slots, and a new 32-bit RISC
(Reduced Instruction Set) processor which makes operations like SCSI,
MIDI timing, and DSP lightning fast. The Ultra upgrade will ship Q1, 1999
and will retail for US$1395.
Ultra advanced hardware
The Ultra upgrade provides the E4 owner with a new 32-bit RISC
processor, giving you ultra-fast MIDI response time, SCSI, DSP operations,
and sampling. The Word Clock and optional ADAT card provide you with the
needed tools for complete integration into the digital studio. "The
Ultra upgrade is an unparalleled move by any manufacturer, showing E-MU's
support and commitment to their loyal user base. By offering this upgrade
we are rewarding E-MU users for their investment and providing them with
the means to acquire the latest technology without having to purchase
a whole new sampler," said Sean Wilhelmsen, E-MU SYSTEMS senior product
manager.
Ultra featured software
EOS version 4.0 software offers a host of breakthrough features.
E-MU's Beat-Munging technology is one of these new features, allowing
you to change your loop's time (i.e. from 4/4 to 7/8), tempo, swing, move,
and switch beats within your loop, all in real-time. It also gives you
unprecedented rhythmic control over your audio, radically changing the
way you create and manipulate loops and grooves. EOS 4.0 also comes with
EOS Link, a software application that allows you to control the Emulator
from your Mac/PC computer desktop. Additional new features include AKAI
S-3000 sound support via SCSI and .WAV and AIFF sound support via floppy.
Ultra main board upgrade/trade in program
Users wanting to upgrade their sampler should contact E-MU SYSTEMS
direct at 1-888-ESC-1ESC (number for upgrades and sound sales only). The
upgrade retails for $1395.00 (includes labor and shipping). The trade-in
portion of this program rewards owners of the higher-spec models by offering
them an additional discount off the upgrade price based on their current
model. An E4XT or a sampler upgraded to 128-voice polyphony entitles that
user to a $400 trade in discount. An E4X, E-Synth rack or e-6400 upgraded
with FX or a digital I/O ASCII upgrade entitles that user to a $200 trade
in discount. All non-upgraded e-6400's can be upgraded to Ultra specifications
for $1395.00. Please refer to the following chart for details.
