Limited Edition '59 Les Paul Reissue from Gibson Custom Shop

January 28, 1999 -- Gibson's Custom-Art-Historic division announces the introduction of the '59 Les Paul Vintage Reissue guitar. The prestigious Gibson division, known for it's premier limited editions and custom guitars, is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1959 Les Paul, considered the "king of the Les Pauls".

"We are very excited to celebrate the 40th birthday of the '59 LP and sure that our enthusiasm will spread to vintage owners and discerning collectors across the world," remarked General Manager Rick Gembar. "We expect these instruments to cause quite a stir because of our unprecedented attention to detail," he added.

The '59 LP Reissue will be the most accurate reissue Gibson has ever made with special attention paid to the binding, the perimeter shape, the top dish carving, the knob placement, the finish and the peghead shape.

Some of the great 1959 features that are replicated are: - Exact duplication of the carved top - The neck set has been re-calibrated to exact 1959 specs. - Elimination of the subtle gap on the pickguard and rhythm pickup. - Angle of neck pitch re-set to 1959 specs. - Exact same filler and stain as used in 1959. - The lacquer is thinner to present exactly as a 1959 Les Paul in finish and color. - The binding has been adjusted 50/1000's to duplicate the 1959 model.
