Gibson Announces Tony Iommi Signature Les Paul SG

January 28, 1999 -- As founding member and lead guitarist for Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi is renowned for his high-powered playing style and driving riffs. Undoubtedly one of heavy metal music's greatest influences, Iommi has deeply inspired succeeding generations of guitarists. Gibson's Tony Iommi Signature model is constructed using the patented ultra-thin, double-cutaway 1961 Les Paul SG Custom body style which features the slim taper neck. The sculpted mahogany body is accented with distinctive chrome hardware. The 24-fret ebony fingerboard provides a two-octave range and is inlaid with stunning sterling silver accents echoing Iommi's trademark cross insignia. Finally, the musician's signature is emblazoned on the peghead, capping off the razor-sharp looks of this impressive instrument.

This sleek, high-profile guitar features two sets of volume and tone controls, a selector switch and concealed rim jack, a fully adjustable ABR-1 bridge, stop bar tailpiece, and two Tony Iommi Signature pickups.

Available in left and right-handed models, the Tony Iommi Signature Les Paul SG is designed and made by Gibson's Custom, Art and Historic Division.
