Virtuoso Series Strings Makes Debut

January 28, 1999 -- ILIO Entertainments will introduce the first major string orchestra sample library to appear in three years at the 1999 NAMM show in Los Angeles. The Virtuoso Series String Orchestra was created by violinist/composer Kirk Hunter and represents his vision of the way sampled strings should sound. While recorded in a large hall to get the broad ambience other string libraries are known for, Hunter also sought after better control in the performance of these sounds on a keyboard. There are a variety of attacks, including down and up strokes, hard and soft, plus three types of vibratos in the violins. There are also true Sordini (muted) recordings. The set includes:

Violins - 24 players, 8 players, 2 players, Solo. Articulations include Espressivo with and without vibrato, Sordini (mutes), Section Slides for use in sweeping melodic passages, Hard Attacks, Random 4th Runs to target notes, Open Strings, Half Step and Whole Step Trills, Tremolos, Up and Down Strokes, Section Slide Downs, Marcato and Pizzicato.

Violas - 16 players. Articulations include Espressivo, Section Slides, Hard and Soft Attacks, Half Step and Whole Step Trills, Tremolos, Marcato and Pizzicato.

Cellos - 10 players, 6 players, 2 players, Solo. Articulations include Espressivo, Section Slides, Hard (Marcato) and Soft Attacks, Half Step and Whole Step Trills, Tremolos and Pizzicato.

Double Basses - 5 players. Articulations include Espressivo with Hard and Soft attacks and Pizzicato.

This multi-disc CD-ROM set is thoroughly programmed in several native sampler formats including Akai, Roland, Kurzweil, SampleCell and Emu EOS. The retail price for each format will be $995.
