January 28, 1999 -- Line 6 has revealed its plans to produce a pair of new Spider amps built around their patented digital amp modeling technology. Two models, rated at 50 Watts, are planned: the Spider 112 (sporting a single 12" speaker) and the Spider 210 (featuring two 10" speakers in a stereo configuration.)

The Spider amps have a somewhat simpler interface compared to its siblings, the Flextone and AX2, but offers six of the same amplifier models. A number of effects are also built-in to the Spider amps, including a stereo flanger, stereo chorus, tremolo, digital delay, ping-pong delay, and tape echo (stereo output on the Spider 112 is only available via the headphone output, which is standard on both models.) These effects are selected and controlled by two Smart Control FX knobs, but there is also a separate control for reverb level.

Both the Spider 112 and Spider 210 have four programmable channels so you can recall your favorite EQ and effects settings instantly, but when used together with Line 6's floor board controller, you can have up to a total of 12 sounds stored in the amp.

The Spider amps are expected to ship in April or May of 1999.
