January 28, 1999 -- Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE), today announced the introduction of the new Compact EFX Series Professional Audio Mixers. The new Compact EFX mixers are designed to handle the most demanding needs of the live, gigging musician and are especially well suited for local and regional touring systems, club bands, small-to-medium club PA systems, small-to-medium houses of worship, corporate AV applications, and small-to-medium theater installations.

The new Compact EFX Series includes three mixers, the EFX 12, EFX 16 and the EFX 20. All three feature a combination of mic line and stereo line inputs, 4 sub mixes, and Mackie Designs' proprietary 32-bit EMAC(TM) custom digital effects processor with 16 effects. Each mixer also offers low-noise, low-distortion, studio-grade, 9-band program equalizers.

Key features of the new Mackie Compact EFX(TM) Series Professional Audio Mixers include:

  • 4 sub mixes with direct outs and left/right assign switches,
  • Low-noise, high-headroom special-design mic preamps with superior RF rejection,
  • Studio-grade, 9-band program equalizers that utilize multiple summing amplifiers and precision infinite feedback band-pass filters which yield superior linear-phase and combining properties (graphic EQs that create exceptionally low-noise, low-distortion, high-quality sound that won't suffer from any nasty phase-shift problems),
  • Input trim controls with +50dB gain range,
  • Intuitive 4-band active EQ on each channel with frequencies set at Mackie musical points,
  • Two aux sends with pre/post switch on each channel,
  • 32-bit EMAC custom digital effects processor with 16 effects, two adjustable parameter controls and special EFX WIDE switch which expands the effect image on reverbs, chorus, flange and phaser,
  • PFL Solo switch on each channel,
  • Dual headphone outputs with independent level control,
  • Rugged all metal chassis.

The new Mackie Compact EFX Series Professional Audio Mixers are available in 12, 16, and 20 channel configurations and are planned to start shipping to domestic Mackie retail dealer outlets this Spring.
