January 28, 1999 -- Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE), today announced the introduction of the much anticipated PPM Professional Powered Mixer Series. The new Mackie professional-quality, high-performance powered mixers have been designed specifically for applications such as local and regional club bands, rehearsal rooms and general gigs, small-to-medium club PA systems, small-to-medium houses of worship, and corporate AV.

Key features of the new PPM Professional Powered Mixer Series include:

  • Low-noise, high-headroom Mackie special-design mic preamps with improved RF rejection,
  • Studio-grade, 9-band program equalizers that utilize multiple summing amplifiers and precision infinite feedback band-pass filters which yield superior linear-phase and combining properties (graphic EQs that create exceptionally low-noise, low-distortion, high-quality sound that won't suffer from any nasty phase-shift problems),
  • Input Level Set with LED and +50dB gain range,
  • Way-cool Amp Routing and Break switches, and Level Set trim controls,
  • Channels 7 & 8 have dual line inputs,
  • Intuitive 3-band active EQ on each channel with frequencies set at Mackie musical points,
  • 32-bit EMAC custom digital effects processor with 16 effects and two adjustable parameter controls and special EFX WIDE switch,
  • Rugged, custom designed injection-molded chassis.

  • 32-bit EMAC custom digital effects processor with 9 reverbs, 4 delays, chorus, flange and phaser,
  • Two adjustable parameter controls on each effect,
  • Special EFX Wide switch expands effect image on reverbs and chorus, flange and phaser,
  • Power amp routing switch selects both power amps for mains or one power amp main/one power amp monitor,
  • Break switch mutes channels 1 - 6 on all models (keeps feedback from generating and bar poets from sneaking up to your mic when you're on break),
  • Master effects loop,
  • Fully independent main and monitor EFX level controls,
  • Two independent 75Hz Rumble Reduction (low cut) filters, one for main and one for monitor,
  • Tape/CD input and output RCA jacks with input level control,

  • High-impact custom injection-molded case,
  • Custom-design rear-panel heat sink provides extra thermal protection.

The new Mackie PPM Professional Powered Mixers are planned to start shipping to domestic Mackie retail dealer locations in the First Quarter of '99.
