Martech MSS-10 Microphone Preamp

January 28, 2000 -- Martinsound, Inc. will be showing the Martech MSS-10 Natural Sounding Microphone Preamplifier at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles, January 28 – 31, 1999. The Martech MSS-10 microphone preamplifier is the first in a line of high-definition modules for the pro audio industry. The naturalness and lack of coloration of the Martech MSS-10 is the result of many, many months of evaluation and extensive listening tests involving every component part.

The MSS-10 comprises two stages of non-inverting amplification. The microphone preamplifier provides 20dB to 65dB of gain, switchable in precise 5dB steps. A 20dB pad, phase reverse (actually, polarity reversal at the input XLR) and +48V phantom power switching is included.

The secondary line driver offers additional level adjustment from µ to +10dB of gain. Its source may be selected from either the microphone preamplifier or a separate balanced line input. Mic/line and mute switches are provided. A CAL switch bypasses the line level control to provide a unity gain output. A professional, full-size VU meter indicates level at the line output.

The MSS-10 has been designed with proprietary high-resolution discrete amplifiers which, coupled with a custom high level input transformer, result in a unit with a unique natural sound and musicality. Capacitors were completely eliminated from the audio path, while custom, private-label capacitors were used in other areas. Coin silver switch contacts were chosen for their superior audio quality in preference to the more usual gold.

MSRP for the Martech MSS-10 is $2,250.
