January 28, 1999 -- Steinberg, a worldwide music software leader, today announced the release of Prosoniq's sonicWORX v2.0, audio editing software for MacOS.

sonicWORX 2.0 new features include:

  • Native Processing of Wave, SDII, AIFF and raw PCM files of any sample rate between 8kHz and 96kHz, 8 bit to 32bit integer
  • Import and Export of PARIS PAF, System 7 and split stereo files
  • Open file' dialog with preview from disk capability (independent from system extensions and Apple QuickTime)
  • 6 different Dithering/Noise Shaping/Requantization options for wordlength conversion.
  • Multi-file processing: play files while they are processing, or process multiple files at the same time - no more waiting times
  • Completely modular realtime page with input level control, wet/dry balance CPU load and clip display for each module
  • Drag & drop support for parameter sets of realtime modules, include load, store and copy.
  • Easy arrangement of realtime modules through drag & drop
  • Snapshot feature for instant comparison between 4 different realtime setups.
  • Supports VST PlugIns (VST PlugIn format by Steinberg).
  • Supports generic VST plug ins that have no user interface enabling access to the many free plug ins for sound design that are available.
  • Supports ASIO drivers for record and playback (i.e. records at any sample rate and word length supported by the audio card, even 96kHz where supported)
  • Full duplex DSP processing - use your Mac as realtime mastering machine
  • New realtime and offline plug in modules for equalization, denoising, requantization and better parametrization for existing modules
  • MPEX time scaling technology for up to +/- 33% near-lossless time
  • stretching/compression for complete mixes
  • High quality Noiseprint Restoration
  • Transcribe capabilities for lossless 200% time scaling for transcription purposes
  • Transparent processing for full listening while processing capabilities.

All offline plug ins are automatically realtime on machines fast enough to handle it.
