New Percussion Instruments

January 28, 1999 -- New Arthur Hull Rope Tuned Djun-Djuns, a Glen Velez Riq and three sizes of shakers along with the extensive line of current Remo World Percussion are featured in the all-new Remo Mini World Percussion Catalog. Available at participating Remo World Percussion dealers, the Mini Catalog features hundreds of World drums and percussion instruments, including El Conguero Congas, Valencia Series Latin instruments and other recent Remo World Percussion developments.

Remo's Arthur Hull Rope Tuned Djun-Djuns combine a traditional rope-tuning system with advanced Acousticon Drumshells, Molded Bearing Edges and Mondo Drumheads. Available in four sizes, the new rope-tuned Djun-Djuns are lighter in weight and lower in sound due to the absence of metal fittings and tuning apparatus. They are offered in Arthur's signature "West African Stripe" FabriFinish that is both beautiful and durable. The drums range in price from $135.00 to $180.00

The new Glen Velez Riq (#TA-0309-GV) brings the authentic sound and style of the Middle-Eastern Riq to the Velez Signature Series. Acclaimed for its earthy, high pitched sound, the Velez Riq features an Acousticon shell, pretuned FiberSkyn 3 head, brass jingles and red VenWood finish along with a unique arched shell design that allows easy hand and finger playing positions. Suggested list price is $75.00.

Remo's small, medium and large shakers are recommended for a variety of both traditional and contemporary world music styles. Their Acousticon shells and steel fill pellets provide the crisp shaker sounds while their unique FiberSkyn 3 top and bottom can be used to create additional maraca and caxixi-style sounds. Remo shakers are available in 2, 3 and 4"x3.5" models with African Stripe FabriFinish and are priced at $7.50, $8.50 and $9.50, respectively.
