Remo Introduces Trilok Gurtu Series Drums & Percussion

January 28, 1999 -- Remo, Inc. is proud to introduce the Trilok Gurtu Series of Percussion instruments consisting of a variety of unique instruments that have been designed in conjunction with master percussionist, Trilok Gurtu. These drums provide the diversity of sounds and the compactness of size that meet the needs of Trilok's highly individual playing style while also providing a new range of sounds for all contemporary drummers and percussionists.

The innovative Kick/Conga combines the sound and features of Remo's professional conga drums on the top with a drumset-style bottom head, floor-tom legs and drum pedal mechanism for a bass drum tone. Recommended as a stand-alone drum or for use in multipercussion or conventional conga drumset-ups, the Trilok Kick/Conga is 16"x11" and features a Mondo Conga head on top and a PinStripe Clear head on the bottom. The drum comes in Purple FabriFinish and carries a suggested list price of $515.

Also available in Purple FabriFinish are the two Trilok Series Snare Drums. These vented and unvented piccolo snares feature Acousticon shells with Molded Bearing Edges and Renaissance heads for a great sound. The unvented 5.5"x10" is priced at $235 and the vented 6.5"x10"model is $265.

The sound of Trilok's unique SpringDrums is generated by moving the drum so that the vibrations of the spring are transmitted to the head creating an indescribable and musically interesting sound that is a cross between a cuica, a thunder sheet, a suspended cymbal roll and the roar of a lion. Available in 6 different styles, the SpringDrums are offered in Matte Black finish; 7"x2" single angle ($16.50), 7"x2" double angle ($19.50), 10"x4" single angle ($23.50), 5.372"x5" flat ($25.00), 16"x7" single angle ($49.50) and 16"x7" flat ($45.50).
