Roland Releases JV-1010 Sound Module

January 28, 1999 -- Answering the needs of keyboardists and MIDI musicians worldwide, Roland is proud to announce the release of the compact and affordable JV-1010 64-Voice Synthesizer Module. The half-rackspace JV-1010 offers a staggering array of 1,023 professional-quality Roland instrument sounds right out of the box, as well as sound expansion and effects capabilities which put it far ahead of any sound module in its class.

The GM-compatible JV-1010 contains the complete sound set of Roland's professional JV-2080 sound module-640 Preset Patches and 128 User Patches-as well as all 255 Patches from Roland's "Session" wave expansion board, including some of the world's best "bread-and-butter" instrument sounds and acclaimed stereo piano samples. The JV-1010's wide array of onboard sounds covers everything from orchestral instruments to screaming techno synths and 18 full rhythm sets, and is bolstered by its full 64-voice polyphony and 16-part multitimbral operation

Essential to Roland's JV-Series sound modules is their expandability, and the JV-1010 is no exception. It includes an additional slot for installing any of Roland's 15 wave expansion boards, ranging from Orchestral to Vintage Synth to Hip-Hop. These boards yield hundreds of additional sounds, allowing the user to customize the JV-1010 to suit a specific style of music making, and bring the total number of JV-1010 Patches to 1,200+ depending on the board installed.

Onboard effects include dedicated chorus and reverb, as well as built-in EFX bank with 40 different algorithms. Knob-style controls make Patch and effects selection easy and intuitive, and a built-in Phrase Preview button and Category/Bank Select knob further this ease-of-use. Phrase Preview plays back the selected sound in a short musical phrase, while Category/Bank Select allows quick selection of Patches by sound type, eliminating endless scrolling. Sound editing software is provided for Mac and PC via a bundled CD-ROM, and accessed via the built-in serial port MIDI interface.
