Pro Sonix Cymbals Shape Sound With 'Extended Bandwidth Response'

January 28, 1999 -- SABIAN Ltd. has added a new range of models to its popular PRO series of professional quality uni-rolled bronze cymbals. PRO Sonix cymbals are uniquely different in that they are designed to penetrate any music with their bright, glassy sounds while offering the sonic-shaping flexibility of Extended Bandwidth Response. Under microphones in live and studio situations this innovative feature lets players boost or reduce specific tonal bandwidths to open up the shape of their sound for expanded fullness or tighten it up for increased penetration.

Noted SABIAN cymbal specialist Mark Love: "Sonix is a major advancement in our PRO series,

For recording and in amplified settings the Extended Bandwidth Response lets players shape and personalize their sound specifically for the music or the volume they are playing. This innovative is unique to PRO Sonix.

Created with input from drummer/producer Jonathan Mover, PRO Sonix are precision-formed from pure B8 bronze (92% copper/8% tin) and are visually distinguishable by the large hammer marks emanating from the bell to the edge in linear patterns. This hammering coupled with the high profile, hand lathing and tonally focused nature of the uni-rolled bronze combines to deliver definitely bright, glassy and cutting sounds. The crashes explode with focused, directional projection while the hats and the ride are tonally tight, with sticking highly defined at all times. The Chinese barks with a bright, biting response. PRO Sonix are finished in SABIAN's highly polished Brilliant Finish and sealed in a coating of clear protective lacquer.

The PRO Sonix lineup includes 10" Splash, 14" Hi Hats, 16" and 18" Crashes, 18" Chinese, 20" Ride. The PRO Sonix Performance Set contains 14" Hats, 16" Crash, 20" Ride.
