V-FX Cymbals And Sounds For Electro And Acoustic Drummers

January 28, 1999 -- SABIAN is pleased to announce that its creative collaboration with electro-acoustic percussion specialist and producer Tony Verderosa has resulted in V-FX, a range of innovative cymbals and sounds for players of electronic and loop-based music, including Drum 'n' Bass, Hip-Hop, TripHop, Industrial and more. Also ideal for forward-thinking Latin, Funk, Rock and Fusion players,

V-FX incorporates some of the most daring concepts ever by the firm recognized by readers of Modern Drummer Magazine as 'The Most Innovative Cymbal Company'.

Commented SABIAN Cymbal Specialist Mark Love: "Techno-Music is the rage throughout the UK, Europe and major centers around the world. For studio and stage - where high-volume, bassdriven funk and triggered samples are more than most cymbals are capable of penetrating - V-FX delivers the necessary cut with uniquely original sounds that are among today's most interesting, innovative and exciting."

To ensure a diversity of sound from model to model, numerous materials and technologies are utilized in the creation of V-FX. The compact and heavy 12" Mini Hats, are extremely fast, precise and penetrating. With a unique semi-flat and flanged top, 12" Distortion Hats bite with raw responses reminiscent of hi-hats being fed through a distortion pedal. At only 14", the V-FX Ride is small, but its flat profile and solid, heavy weight ensure dry, cutting definition. Aside from the bell, the 14" and 16" Crashes are literally flat in design, for a glassy response that is a totally new sound for crashing. At 19" the Tony Verderosa V-FX Ride delivers the dry, definite sounds so necessary for modern music, but with a more traditional look and feel that includes a solid bell and quick-response sticking. The V-Wave is a multi-role percussion piece of curved raw bronze (fits on cymbal stand) that can be played as an accenter, used in place of a cowbell, or struck for rhythms ranging from Latin claves to solid funk, rock and fusion grooves.

V-FX models (except V-Wave) are coated in SABIAN's exclusive Spectrum Lacquer. This iridescent coating emits shifting hues of color, for a futuristic appearance that complements the uniquely different yet highly versatile sounds of these cymbals.
