Shure Introduce PSM700® Wireless Personal Monitor

January 28, 1999 -- Designed for touring applications, Shure's new PSM700® Wireless Personal Monitor is a frequency-agile system with two groups of 16 selectable UHF frequencies (32 total). Up to 16 PSM700 systems, each providing a separate stereo mix, may be operated simultaneously. Featuring Shure's new E5 dual-driver, universal-fit earphones, the system has a minimum operating range of 300 feet, is fully frequency compatible with all other Shure wireless systems, and offers users the option of stereo, mono, or MixMode(TM) operation.

Exclusive to all Shure PSM systems, the MixMode feature provides users with the choice of sending and receiving a pair of monaural mixes rather than just a single stereo mix. When the MixMode function is active, the balance control on the PSM receiver can be used to adjust the relative volumes of these two mixes to facilitate individual performance needs.

At the heart of each PSM700 system lies the Shure P7T Transmitter. Occupying half of a single rack space, the P7T is equipped with front panel control and monitoring capabilities which include an eight-LED stereo input meter, input level control, channel selection and mono/stereo select switch, headphone level control, and 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch headphone jacks. The rear panel layout includes an input pad switch, 50-ohm BNC-type antenna connector, two balanced 1/4-inch loop-out connectors, and a pair of "combo" style input connectors which accommodate either XLR or 1/4-inch inputs.

Shure's P7R Body-pack Receiver brings a versatile level of personal command to each PSM700 system. Outfitted with a reversible belt clip, the unit places controls for on/off, volume, and balance all at the user's fingertips. LED displays indicate power on, low battery life, and when the P7R is receiving an active signal. Group/channel frequency selection controls, a switchable limiter, and a high frequency boost switch are found within the unit's 9V battery compartment. The P7R's 1/8-inch "mini" headphone jack accommodates Shure's new E5 Earphones, their existing E1 model, and custom designs from other providers.

Shure's E5 Earphones represent the first universal-fit, dual-driver personal monitor design on the market Developed in conjunction with Westone Audio and Ultimate Ears, they incorporate proprietary low mass/high energy drivers. Providing a secure and comfortable fit within the ear canal while delivering full-range audio performance, they are also available with custom-fit sleeves.

The PSM700 comes equipped with a rackmount kit, individual protective storage cases for the receiver and earphones, a Duracell(R) 9V alkaline battery, and ten foam ear inserts. A full range of optional accessories is also offered.
