Telex CDP 2001(TM) CD Duplicator

High Volume, Versatile System Designed for Multimedia and Audio Supports all Standard Writing Modes and is Expandable to Support DVD-R and CD-R

January 28, 1999 -- Telex(r) Communications, Inc. is showcasing its new CDP 2001(tm) Desktop CD Duplicator at the NAMM Convention, held from January 28 to 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth W144. The high volume, highly versatile CDP 2001 is designed for multimedia and audio applications. It also supports all standard writing modes and is easily expandable to support DVD-R and CD-R.

"The CDP 2001 is a self-contained system that fits right on any desktop and features a user-friendly interface," says Sue Arrington, product manager for Telex. "Also, it is compatible to our EDAT(tm) Digital Master Duplication Workstation. The CDP 2001, in conjunction with the EDAT, creates the most powerful editing and duplication workstation on the market."

Direct SCSI(tm) allows the duplicator to operate stand-alone, as well as to connect directly to a CPU/EDAT Duplication Workstation(tm). All CD-R or DVD-R drives in the CDP 2001 become a target writer of PC, Mac and Workstation. A duplicate can be copied directly from the host system on the fly without burning a master CD or DVD.

The CDP 2001 copies disc-at-once to disc-at-once and multisession to multisession. It also converts multisession to disc-at-once and can turn incremental writing on or off when copying a master to multisession. The system can have simultaneous disc-to-disc copying while downloading the master to the hard drive, which is ideal for network operation.

The CDP 2001 also features CD format detection and one-touch operation for multimedia and audio applications. It can burn 20 drives simultaneously and directly from the master CD-ROM drive on the fly. The optional FlexHD hard drive permits each master and each slave unit to copy at staggered intervals so time is saved by loading and unloading some discs while others are still copying.

Installing the Versatile Media Interface(tm) (VMI) Card is a cost-effective way to upgrade this system. It connects several slave 4x, 5-bay or 7-bay CD-R enclosures for high-volume CD duplication-as many as 280 CDs at a time. Up to 910 copies an hour can be produced when using a 60-minute master. The CDP 2001 also supports DVD-R duplication with the VMI card. As many as three VMI cards can be installed to upgrade each CDP 2001 master unit, so each master can support 20 CD-R drives (28 with 7-bay system) or six DVD-R drives.
