Chuck Rainey Designs Signature Model Basses

January 28, 1999 -- Washburn International, is pleased to announce that Chuck Rainey is currently designing prototypes for his "Chuck Rainey Signature Model Bass!" Based on the XB 900, the bass will feature a larger headstock and a longer body, a Seymour Duncan Basslines pickup in the neck and piezo pickup in the bridge with a blend knob to dial in any combination of acoustic and electric sounds. A 34" scale, ebony fingerboard and a brass nut and bridge. Chuck, a longtime Washburn endorsee, is also working on a custom six string acoustic bass. The Chuck Rainey Signature Bass is scheduled to go into production for NAMM 1999.

Chuck is known throughout the music business as "King Bass" and has appeared on countless recordings. Some of Chuck's many credits include Steely Dan, Cannoball Adderly, Mose Allison, Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, Perry Como, Little Feat, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Grant Green, The Jackson Five, Etta James, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Albert King, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson, Paul Simon, Ringo Starr, Barbara Striesand, Barry White and many others.
