Opcode Cuts Prices on Vision DSP and Studio
Vision Pro
Special US web downoadable version of Vision DSP to be offered for $59.95. May 31, 1999
Effective June 1, 1999 Opcode Systems, a
division of Gibson Guitar Inc., has announced a radical new pricing strategy for
their award-winning Macintosh music sequencing software. The new suggested retail
prices have been lowered by 60% for Vision
DSP(tm) (now $199.95) and Studio
Vision Pro(tm) (now $399.95). In addition, a $59.95 version of Vision DSP
is also available to US customers as a software download directly from Opcode's
web site.
The $59.95 web download version of Vision DSP is a full version of the software
application including OMS and software PDF file manuals. The product is sold without
telephone technical support and without the extras that come with the boxed, in-store
version such as the Bias Peak SE sample editing software. An online area is being
developed to help support the first-time user, which includes a primer on setup
and basic terminology. "We feel there's a growing opportunity in the high
volume 'shareware-like' software area," continued Sherman. "The Internet
is exploding with new concepts of software distribution and support. We see this
as an inflection point for the entire industry and we're proud to be aggressively
embracing these changes."
Vision DSP is a Macintosh audio and MIDI sequencer for composing, arranging
and recording music. It is compatible with real-time audio plug-ins and ASIO(tm)
audio hardware, and Opcode's new MIDIport
32(tm) USB MIDI interface. Studio Vision Pro adds compatibility for the powerful
Digidesign Pro Tools TDM(tm) hardware system and also includes Opcode's patented
Audio-to-MIDI(tm) and MIDI-to-Audio(tm) capability.
