Logic to Support Pro Tools 6.0 on OS XMore audio initiatives planned as well October 16, 2002
Coinciding with the Digidesign worldwide preview of Pro Tools 6.0 software, Digidesign and Emagic are pleased to announce planned support of Emagic's Logic Platinum for Digidesign TDM systems under Mac OS X. This support builds upon Emagic's delivery, earlier this year, of Logic PTHD|Ext, which offers support for Pro Tools|HD systems using Mac OS 9.x.
Emagic and Digidesign are fully committed to working together to deliver this compatibility quickly. "We continue to enjoy a close and productive relationship with Emagic" states Dave Lebolt, Digidesign's general manager, "and we will work closely with Emagic in the coming months to ensure the release of Logic support for Pro Tools on OS X as close to the release of Pro Tools 6.0 as possible." Sven Junge, COO and co-founder of Emagic adds "It is our goal to bring support of all Digidesign systems under OS X concurrently with Digidesign's release of Pro Tools 6.0 for OS X." Emagic has already worked with Digidesign to implement this, and has displayed a technical preview version of Logic Platinum at the recent 113th AES convention in Los Angeles running on Pro Tools|HD systems under Mac OS X.
Digidesign and Emagic plan to continue their cooperation, not only with their present ongoing commitment to the Logic TDM Extension, but also, with upcoming exciting new Emagic products for Pro Tools users, including the EPIC TDM collection of TDM Plug-Ins for Pro Tools users, and Pro Tools-compatible versions of the ES-2 virtual synthesizer, the EVP88 vintage keyboard and the EVB3 vintage organ and EVD6 vintage clavinet modules. In addition, shortly after the introduction of Pro Tools 6.0, Digidesign will release OS X Core Audio drivers that will enable Emagic support of Digidesign I/O hardware in native (host-based) Emagic applications.
