Autographed Shure Mics Going Up for Auction

Promotion for Better Hearing and Speech Month. Free hearing screenings, earplug giveaways, education among other activities

April 25, 2002

Shure Incorporated, the manufacturer of microphones and audio electronics, announced its latest endeavor to increase awareness of hearing conservation, the company's corporate cause. To promote Better Hearing and Speech Month in May, Shure is holding an online, charitable auction of autographed microphones called the Shure Bid for Hearing. Hosted by eBay, the auction features nearly 30 Shure microphones and other audio gear autographed by Shure endorsers and users like Ozzy Osbourne, *NSYNC, Dave Matthews, Moby, and others. All of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the House Ear Institute (HEI) Sound Partners Program, which educates audio industry professionals on the topic of hearing health issues.

Among the featured items to be auctioned are Shure microphones signed by AC/DC, Nelly Furtado, Marilyn Manson, Christina Aguilera, Hank Williams Jr., Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Chrissie Hynde. The charitable auction goes live on eBay starting April 29th and concludes on May 9th. Visit www.shure.com/hearing for more information including a full listing of items, instructions about how to bid, and tips for hearing conservation.

In addition to the auction, Shure is sponsoring free hearing screenings at this year's NSCA convention, provided by the House Ear Institute (HEI). Also planned for Better Hearing and Speech Month, Shure will be launching www.shure.com/hearing on its Web site to help better educate the public about hearing conservation. Finally, Shure will be offering earplug giveaways at five different concert venues in Chicago and Nashville to further increase awareness of the importance of hearing protection in May.
