Soundart has announced a significant price reduction on their multi-purpose rackmount DSP unit. For end users there is a saving of 200 Euros - the price has changed
worldwide from 795 Euros to only 595 Euros.
Developers also benefit, receiving a savings of 100 Euros with the new price of 495 Euros.
The Chameleon is housed in a
1U rack, offering the same Motorola DSP processing power found in many brands of audio hardware, along with 2 x 24bit I/O A/D D/A
converters and MIDI I/O. Low-level Soundart code allows it to effectively
function as a "blank canvas" for developers to use how they
please. End-users load "soundskins" via MIDI and the Chameleon instantly
becomes a completely different tool.
Soundart currently offers eight different "soundskins" for the chameleon, transforming it into a virtual analog synth, stereo reverb processor, vocoder/filterbank, multi-fx, and more. The company also plans on releasing additional skins for free.
The current skins to date include:
- AUSTRALIS - virtual analog polysynth skin.
- CHROMASONIC - workhorse multi FX skin.
- AMP-O-MATIC - amp-modeller skin.
- INFILTRATOR - monster vocoder and filterbank FX skin.
- FAHRENHEIT - dance music production skin.
- FX DESIGNER - delay-based FX skin from Spin Audio.
- MONOWAVE II - unique open-source fat monosynth DSP project.
- ROOMVERB M1 - high quality true-stereo studio reverb skin
