Effects
GigaStudio includes a completely automated 32-channel audio mixing console (16 stereo channels). You get four insert effects and eight auxiliary sends for each input. These are actually busses: The same input can be shared by more than one instrument, which will then go through the same processing chain. These channels can be routed to any of the soundcard's physical outputs (up to 32 channels are supported). A dedicated Aux console hosts the effects (such as reverb) that are meant to be shared among multiple channels.

All effects processors, including the Multi-tap Delay, feature a 3-band semi-parametric EQ. (click for a close-up)

The program comes with three effects modules (reverb, chorus/flanger, delay). A fourth (EQ) is sent to the user via email upon completion of the online registration procedure. Like the rest of the program, the effects benefit from an efficient interface: In addition to level-setting and bypass functions, GigaStudio lets you save and recall your edits, and A/B any changes you make as you go along. All effects also feature a Contour section -- a three-band semi-parametric EQ on the output signal -- with a nice graphical interface. You can also automate all effects settings and assign MIDI controllers to their parameters (check out the audio examples for more on this).

Overall, the effects sound quite good. The reverb is thick and warm; the chorus/flanger is capable of subtle or very extreme effects; and the multitap delay (maximum time around 1.5 seconds) doesn't click when you change the delay value.
