LEXIFACE-5 v0.4 October 1996 (c) Mark Mitchell LEXIFACE-5 LXP-5 Editor Program for DOS version 0.4, October 1996 written by Mark Mitchell P.O. Box 111116 Carrollton TX 75011 Compuserve: 72560,1604 Internet: sonarte@itesocci.gdl.iteso.mx What it is LEXIFACE-5 is a DOS program that allows you to use your PC to edit all the parameters of programs for the Lexicon LXP-5 multi-effects unit. The quality of the Lexicon LXP-5 reverb algorithms is quite good, especially compared to those of many other manufacturers' digital effects that are in the same price range, and the LXP-5 also can be programmed to allow real-time control of its parameters via MIDI. However, the LXP-5 falls short of other units in one area: its user interface. It is possible to edit the LXP-5 from its front panel, but the LXP-5 has no display to allow you to see what you are doing. Successfully creating LXP-5 programs via its front panel is an exercise that is beyond the ability or patience of most users. The LEXIFACE-5 program allows you to use your PC screen and keyboard as a big luxurious interface for editing LXP-5 programs. It uses a familiar menu-and-mouse type of user interface. LEXIFACE-5 features: All the parameters of an LXP-5 program are displayed on the PC screen for easy editing. Parameter values are displayed in real-world units like milliseconds and Hertz. It is easy to create banks of LXP-5 programs, with which you can load all 128 registers of your LXP-5 at one whack. LXP-5 programs and banks can be saved in disk files. The files contain only the raw MIDI System Exclusive data, so you can also use other programs such as the free MIDIEX, or your sequencer, to send them to the LXP-5. Support for MPU-401 compatible MIDI interfaces, including the Music Quest MQX-32M, as well as the Music Quest parallel port interfaces 2PortSE, Note1 and Note1+. System Requirements To use the LEXIFACE program, you need the following: A PC compatible computer with DOS 5.0 or higher One of the following MIDI interfaces: MPU-401 compatible Music Quest MQX-32M Music Quest 2Port/SE, Note/1 or Note/1 Plus Of course you need a Lexicon LXP-5. The LEXIFACE-5 demonstration version LEXIFACE-5 is not shareware. This demonstration version will not allow you to save to a disk file, nor save to a LXP-5 register. Otherwise, it works the same as the fully functional version, which costs $40. The purpose of the demonstration is to allow people to see how the program works, so they may decide if they want to buy the fully functional version. The file LXP5EDIT.ZIP is the demonstration version. LXP5EDIT.ZIP may be freely distributed to other Web sites and bulletin boards as long as it is not altered and no fee is charged for distributing it.
