Reverb 5.3 Reverb is a Macintosh application that allows the user to construct stereo delays, echo effects, chorusers, and reverberators for realtime performance on an Audiomedia, Sound Accelerator, or Pro Tools DSP card. The Audiomedia, Sound Accelerator, and Pro Tools DSP cards are based on the Motorola 56000 digital signal processor, and are all products of Digidesign, Inc. If you do not have a DSP card, you can still use Reverb to process sound files in non-realtime. Reverb provides the user with a standard multiple window text editor. Reverb programs are entered into a text window using a simple command language. If you have a DSP card, the program may be compiled into DSP56000 code and downloaded into the DSP card for realtime execution. In this case, the Reverb program specifies exactly how the audio input to the DSP card is processed to form the audio output. The user may quickly switch between different Reverb programs. If you do not have a DSP card, the Reverb program can be used to process an existing sound file on disk, creating a new sound file. It is not possible to process sound files through a DSP card in realtime, however. The programming language has been optimized for reverberator construction. Reverb programs are specified by attaching operators to a large digital delay line. The set of instructions includes basic operations such as move, add, subtract, multiply, and more advanced operations such as finite impulse response (FIR), comb, allpass, and lowpass filters. Also, the user may define a number of oscillators that can be used to modulate pitch or amplitude. All program parameters can be controlled from MIDI in realtime using MIDI control change messages, and Reverb programs may be selected using MIDI program change messages. The programming language includes macros and mathematical expressions to facilitate realtime control.Download Software
