Beat It... Sample/Loop Based Real-time Audio Mixing

"Beat It" is an original 'on the fly' audio mixing utility used to mix multiple samples 
together to generate new and creative sound. 

Beat It features: 

(o) In built keyboard utility turning your computers keyboard into a real-time sample 
	keyboard. Forget paying $300+ for a keyboard which can only do MIDI. Use your own 
	cheap computer keyboard with your own samples to make your own new loops. Can even 
	allow you to change the pitch mid sample.
(o) In built CrossFader for all your sample needs. Crossfade between your beats at an 
	instant with the click of your mouse. 
(o) Sample settings recognising loops and one shot samples. Panning and frequency 
	alterations. 
(o) Support for up to 16 samples at once. 
(o) Sample pad for fast sound access. 
(o) Tap pad capable of playing all loaded samples at once with the tap of just one key. 
	Allowing you to tap out cool loops any way you like them.
(o) 20 second recording and preview. Just in case you want a long loop.
(o) Takes any .wav file no matter what frequency, samplerate or BPM.
(o) Uses Direct X 7 for the latest performance and speed enabling direct control over your 
	soundcard.
(o) Simple FX built in. Stop all your samples at once to play a break or any .wav

Reason For Writing:

I wrote this program because I got annoyed with the fact that I would have to buy a MIDI 
keyboard to input loops that I come up with. Also the basic MIDI keyboards I looked at 
wouldn't let me load my own samples into them - which is a feature I desperately wanted. 
I'm not very good at using traditional beat boxes as that isn't the way I think. I think in 
real time as most people do.

System Requirements:

I am running Beat It on a p200 with 48megs of RAM running Windows 98 with DX7 and it works. 
But I guess the faster your computer the better off you will be. This program should 
support any soundcard supported by DX7.  If you don't have DX7 installed you can get it at

Soon To Be Released - Beat It Pro - If you love Beat It buy Beat It Pro. It has more 
features and helps subsidize me for writing the programs.  Beat It is going to remain 
freeware but it won't contain any of the new Beat It Pro features.
