The Beatnik Plug-in for Netscape is currently the most widely used version of
the Beatnik Player. By downloading the free plug-in, Web users can
experience music and sound in all of the commonly used formats - MIDI,
WAV, AIFF, and more. The Beatnik Plug-in is the ONLY way users can
experience Beatnik's native Rich Music Format (RMF) which takes
advantage of Beatnik's extended features. Already installed on over one
million desktops, the Beatnik Plug-in for Netscape is now being included
with all commercial versions of Netscape Communicator.

-Professional audio quality. Supports 16-bit CD-quality sound files, 32 simultaneous 
    audio voices and six built-in reverb presets.
-Full-featured software synthesizer. LFOs, ADSRs, filters, and reverb.

    room for 128 user-created instruments.
-Standards based. Supports industry standard MIDI files, sample formats, and also RMF

    mix - all interactively, on the fly, with simple controls which can be placed on any 
    Web page.
-Copyright control. Supports embedding of encrypted copyright information in RMF files. 
    Using detailed fields of information, composers can protect their work and listeners 
    can get contact and licensing information.
-Reliability. Beatnik is based on the underlying Headspace audio engine which has been 
    used in over fifty different products in the last three years.
-Efficiency. The Plug-In typically uses only 25% of the host computer's CPU time - 
    considerably less than other software synthesizers.
-Contains 50 user-interface sounds, or 'Groovoids'TM. The Beatnik Plug-In has built in to 
    its memory a ready-to-use collection of short sounds which can be used to sonify a Web
    page. Cash registers, teletypes, fanfares, chimes, musical snippets and more can all be 
    instantly accessed and used royalty free on any Web page.

System Requirements
In order to run the Beatnik Plug-In on a Macintosh you will need: 
       A PowerMac running Netscape 3.0 or higher with SoundManager 3.1 or higher installed.
In order to run the Beatnik Plug-In under Windows 95 you will need: 
       A Pentium-class PC (90 Mhz or higher recommended) running Netscape 3.0
