Harmony Central Buyer's Guide

MOZART is a Music Processor for Windows. Using only the computer keyboard, 
you can create and edit sheet music. This can be printed with high-quality TrueType 
symbols on printers supported by Windows, and appears on the screen in standard 
notation as a WYSIWYG display. The primary objective of MOZART is to print parts 
for musicians, but MIDI files can be exported to provide an "aural preview" on
multimedia PCs. 

Features include: 

       automatic alignment of notes in parallel parts; 
       automatic bar-line entry; 
       automatic default quaver (1/8th note) tail groupings; 
       cut, copy, paste; 
       dotted and double-dotted notes/rests; 
       editable titles, headers, and footers; 
       exporting MIDI files either "straight" or with "swing"; 
       instant transposition; 
       keyboard shortcuts for most common commands; 
       note accents available include: attack, tenuto, staccato; 
       note/rest symbols from breve (double whole note) down to hemidemisemiquaver 
		(1/64th note); 
       rapid note positioning using the cursor keys; 
       setup program for easy installation; 
       treble, bass, alto, and tenor clef options; 
       triplets and other multiplets; 
       TrueType symbols; 
       up to 3 simultaneous parts on the Shareware version; 
       up to 64 parts on the "Virtuoso" Edition; 
       user-definable "swing" styles; 
       extensive on-line, context-sensitive help. 



Additional features in MOZART 2

MOZART 2.0 was introduced to take advantage of the power of WindowsÊ95 and 
WindowsÊNT. It has all the features of MOZART 1.4 (which remains available for 
users of Windows 3.1) and the the following in addition. 

       Bar lines optionally do not connect all staves on the score. 
       Faster response when entering music and scrolling. 
       Floating/docking toolbars including: 
              toolbar (with standard new, open, cut, copy, paste etc commands). 
              toolbar as an alternative selection of note/rest durations. 
              toolbar and keyboard shortcuts 0-7 for note durations. 
       Integration with the Windows 95 shell. 
       Parts and staves may be added/removed from existing scores. 
       Pause (fermata) can now be added on a whole bar rest. 
       Print preview - in full just like a modern word processor. 
       Space deletion: now also works on a selected block. 
       Status bar now also shows current page. 
       Staves may be labelled in the left hand margin
       Stems: the default stem direction may now be overridden. 
       Tempo changes may be inserted. 
       Tempo marking: optionally shown at the start.
       Tempo marking: may be shown at any point in the music. 
       Text substitutions: 
              &f (&F) in a text string is replaced by the file name (full path name). 
              &p is now documented as being replaced by the page number. 
       Ties on consecutive notes may be now be over the notes or under as desired. 
       Tool tips. [See figure.] 
       Undo command. 
       Uninstall program. 

Remember, these are just the features which were first introduced in version 2.0. They 
are in addition to all the features of MOZART 1 and there are now even more features in 
MOZART 3



     New features in MOZART 3

MOZART 3.0 is the new release for Windows 95 and Windows NT. (MOZART 1.4 is still 
available for Windows 3.1 and is included in the dual installatiuon package with MOZART 
3.) MOZART 3.0 has all the features of MOZART 1 and MOZART 2 plus the following:

       Phrase marks which automatically avoid going through intervening notes and rests - 
		and move if
       you move the notes and rests! 
       Crescendo and diminuendo markings ("hairpins") which automatically avoid going 
		through stems
       of notes. 
       Multiplet digits either above or below the multiplet.Ê 
       DC, DS, Segno (sign), Coda, and Fine. 
       A floating/dockable piano keyboard tool as a new option for entering notes. 
       Tool bar for dynamic markings ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, fff and fz 
       Tool bar for "hairpins". 
       Configurable overall play-back volume level on each MIDI channel. 
       Stereo output pan control on each MIDI channel. 
       Configurable dynamic levels corresponding to ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, fff. 
       Drag and drop mozart files from the Windows explorer to the printer. 
       MOZART files are playable by right clicking on a MOZART document icon in the explorer. 
       MOZART files can be created direct from explorer menus. 
       On MAPI-compliant e-mail systems: you can send the open MOZART document via e-mail. 
       Improved bar numbering algorithm. 
       Improved default beam joining pattern. 
       Improved Zoom command.
