A new method used for the creation of innovative electronical sounds is the Physical-
Modeling-Synthesis which can be used to create virtual resonance bodies.

Screen Shot

Phy Mod 2.0 is a Physical-Modeling-Programm which can create virtual resonance bodies,
i.e. defined by the programm as "sound-sculptures", on the screen. Not just sound-bodies
can therefore be simulated in an astonishingly visible way but swinging compositions
can also be described.

The PhyMod sound sculpture is nothing else than a simulated connection of different
mechanical elements which can be placed alongside different varying uses (i.e. weight,
positions etc.). The programme speaks in a visible way of elementary masses, feathers and
dampers but also of Hammer-Links, Bow Links and Gum Links. As a Windows
programme PhyMod 2.0 comes with an easy to use editor-surface, where these separate
basic elements can be connected to form the required sound sculpture by mouseclicks.

Apart from the simple recreation of ordinary instruments PhyMod can also show the limits of
swinging parameters and therefore create highly interesting soundforms which may not even
be known to nature. And because of ist sophisticated programming it is also possible to see
the swinging sculpture in a 3D-Window in real time.

A computer mouse or a microphone can be used to stimulate the designed PhyMod sound
sculpture in every possible position in stereo to be heard or recorded afterwards. This makes
PhyMod not just a synthesis programme but also a processor of filters and effects.
