I have upgraded my E6400 to 4.02 and have all of the features of the Ultra models apart from Beat Munging (and slower processing speed ofcourse). The machine is very powerful and the sound quality is first class. I have used other machines (Akai, Korg & Roland) but always come back to Emu. I had an Emulator Three Keyboard which lasted me 6 years and is still going strong with my friend Essam who bought it.

64 voice polyphony is more than enough for anyone however once the option drops in price I will be upgrading to 128. This will be sufficient to play every instrument in a song. The timing is very good indeed and the filters are the best in any machine.

All in all this beast is a joy.

I have had some problems with it after 2 years of use however it turned out that the ICs had come loose on the motherboard and it took 10 minutes to take them out and plug them in again. It worked great after that. I even installed a hard disk myself however be careful with the power lead as Emu have decided to switch around the wires. I am really not sure why they did that but it cost me $100 to find out.

Like most hi tech companies, Emu do not employ the best customer support staff in the world. All in all they try their best but getting hold of an expert can be a difficult task.
